Lips & LIPS!

I am so excited about this blog post - talking about lips & LIPS!! A few weeks ago I had my lips plumped up at bit at The Lind Institute of Plastic Surgery (LIPS) and I am sharing with you about the whole experience here on the blog! Although I already had full lips, I began to notice the past couple of years I was getting deeper and deeper lines. And when I hit 40 I knew this was something I definitely wanted to address and correct! I also want to shed some light on the process, as many are unsure or unfamiliar with the procedure.

Dr. Jeff Lind is the owner and founder of The Lind Institute of Plastic Surgery and has had his private practice in The Woodlands, TX for over a year now. Not only is he fully trained in all aspects of plastic surgery and an accomplished plastic surgeon, but he also has a giving heart by supporting many charities and giving back to the community. Knowing this about Dr. Lind is why I wanted to visit with him and learn more about his practice. From the moment I walked in I noticed the gorgeous decor and was greeted by the sweetest receptionist, Melissa!

I was taken to the consult room where I gave my full history of any current medical problems, allergies, as well as any prior lip injections. Dr. Lind then listened to my concerns and what I am wanting to improve about my lips. He then did an exam and told me what he saw, pointing out any normal asymmetries and how he thinks he can improve them with soft tissue filler.

Most importantly Dr. Lind went over the risks, benefits, and alternatives of the procedure before I signed the consent form.

I can’t keep a straight face for my “before” pic!

Anxiously awaiting for the numbing gel to kick in - lots of drooling going on here!

Time for the injections! All the numbing gel is removed and the lips are cleaned again with an alcohol pad. The lip filler has lidocaine in it so as my lips are being injected, they are continuing to get more numb. I know...it looks painful, but I promise it just felt like a prick!

Again…hard for me to be serious! Prior to finishing the syringe, Dr. Lind let me see my lips to see if there were any bothersome areas remaining as he wants his patients to be able to see and point anything out he may not see.

Injecting is finished and I’m given an ice pack to place on my lips for the next 30 minutes in order to reduce bruising and swelling.

All done and all smiles!!

My first experience getting lip fillers was a breeze! Bruising and swelling is a possible side effect which I had a little of both so Dr. Lind does advise to not make your apt within 5 days of an important event or social function. I wanted a very subtle and natural improvement to my lips. Dr. Lind takes this very seriously and his philosophy is to “augment ones natural beauty without making the patient look over-done”. I was so pleased with my results, I had Dr. Lind do my Botox two weeks later!
